[Goongbe's Pri-mmune packaging wins in the Beauty & Healthcare category at iF Design Award 2023]
Goongbe, a skincare brand specializing in products designed for delicate baby skin, was recognized for its packaging design, winning the Beauty & Healthcare category at iF Design Award 2023, a global design award held in Germany.
Held annually in Hanover, Germany, the iF Design Award is one of the world’s three largest design awards. The award is conferred by the iF International Forum Design, one of the oldest independent design institutions in the world, which selects the best designs of the year. In this year's award, a total of 11,000 entries from 56 countries went through a fierce competition.
The winner of the Beauty & Healthcare category, Goongbe's baby line Pri-mmune was recognized for its design inspired by the royal Joseon-era motifs of placenta jar (used to store umbilical cords) and lotus flower. In the Joseon dynasty, placenta jars symbolized the prince's health and longevity, while lotus flower was used to decorate royal feasts and represented vitality that blooms immaculately even in muddy waters. The design received high acclaim from the panel that consisted of 133 experts across the world for effectively conveying the aspiration for the health of babies.
Goongbe began from a secret method employed by the royal family in the Joseon dynasty, where babies were bathed on the third day of birth in water brewed with peach, plum and mulberry chips. To this naturally derived skin health regimen for royal princes, modern science was added to create the proprietary patented Royal Oji Complex™ ingredient,[1] which is formulated with essential ingredients for baby skin.
The product is free of allergens designated by the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and the European Union. It features a food-graded fragrance and has passed a range of stringent dermatological, including hypoallergenic, tests, as well as safety tests on infant and toddler skin and animal-free eye irritation tests.
An official of Goongbe said, "With Pri-mmune, we intended to deliver the brand philosophy of cherishing all babies as those in the royal family. We will continue to introduce designs and products that not only endorse Goongbe's brand identity, but also ensures convenience and environmental sustainability.
