Goongbe, a baby skincare brand introduced by Zero to Seven (CEO: Kim Jeong-min), has successfully registered its flagship baby skincare line, Pri-mmune, with the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in China.

A total of eight products from Goongbe passed the registration with the NMPA, including Pri-mmune Baby Shampoo & Bath, Pri-mmune Baby Moisture Lotion, Baby Moist Cream, and Baby Deep Moist Cream.[1]

The NMPA has established a strict baby cosmetics management system by introducing the Children's Cosmetics Control and Management Rules in order to promote the quality of baby cosmetics and protect babies from safety accidents. Registration in the system is mandatory for all baby and children products sold in the Chinese market. The registration status can be verified through the small golden shield label displayed on the product package.

Meanwhile, the registration for baby and children's cosmetics in China is notorious for the strict documentation and review process. It applies a higher standard than what is normally required for adult cosmetics in terms of ingredients, efficacy and safety standards. The registration process involves stringent tests and inspections related to skin irritation, bacteria and heavy metal contents in the official testing center designated by the NMPA.

Goongbe’s Pri-mmune baby line, which has passed the strict requirements, is formulated with the proprietary patented Royal Oji Complex™[2] ingredient that builds the foundation for healthy baby skin. The fragrance used to create the delicate scent of the Goongbe Pri-mmune line meets the food additive standards set by the Flavor Extract Manufacturers Association (FEMA) of the United States. The formula has also passed a skin irritation test and animal-free eye irritation test that apply high standards.

An official of Zero to Seven said, “Despite the slowing consumption levels in the Chinese market, the brand achieved a good result in the recent Single's Day promotion event, plastering its position as a trendy baby brand. With the registration in the Chinese baby and children’s cosmetics management system, we plan to increase the market penetration and market share, securing sales growth and profitability.”

Four of the top ten bestselling baby skincare products were from Goongbe during the Single’s Day promotion period on Tmall, the largest e-commerce platform in China. In particular, Goongbe Waterful Sun Lotion (SPF 50+ PA++++), which has an unrivaled position in the Chinese baby sun care market, ranked first in the baby category of the local brand section of Tmall during the event period, proving its position as a trendy baby brand.
